Can anybody explain what new capabilities are planned for QMX for SCCM 2007 and the aproximate availability of those capabilities in relation to the SCCM release?  I need to design a heterogeneous management solution (Wintel, Mac, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux) and although QMX for SMS 2003 provides some basic capability but I need to know what Quest is planning on delivering in order to close the gap between management capabilities on Wintel versus other supported platforms using SCCM.  Several large customers I am working with are asking for this integration and are referencing the Wintel platform management as the desired capabilities the need to be extended to other platforms while leveraging their investment in SMS infrastructure and skills.

Quest has been working closely with Microsoft in their partner program to add support for SCCM 2007.  As you may know, SCCM has a new UI and many new features.  QMX for SMS currently supports Hardware and Software Inventory, software and patch distribution, application metering, remote tools and many of SMS' features such as reporting, collections and queries.  We plan to take a phased approach at supporting SCCM based on when their SDKs are available and the breadth of the new features.  We'll start by providing similar functionality we've had for SMS 2003 into SCCM in 2007.  We'll follow that up by adding support for Software Updates and DCM in 2008.

Are there any plans to handle OS deployment in SCCM?
